2016 Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade: An Event You Shouldn’t Miss!
Christmas is just around the corner! Every street and house is starting to light up, welcoming the holiday season with warmth and joy. This time of the year is meant for family and relatives where festive meals, gift giving, and several other family activities are enjoyed. You probably already have a long list of plans for this year, but let’s add another event you shouldn’t miss – the 2016 Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade!
The Newport Beach Boat Parade is the premier Christmas event in Southern California. This is one of the country’s largest decorated boat parades with a history that spans for over 100 years and is viewed by more than a million people each year. It was heralded as one of the “Top Holiday Events in the Nation” by the New York Times and as “The No. 2 Best Destination in the Country for Holiday Lights” by Yahoo Travel. The parade will feature an array of boats filled with beautiful lights and decorations that will light up Newport Harbor, welcoming the holiday season with a bang! This year’s event is proudly hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. The parade will last for five days from December 14-18, 2016.
The Boat Parade
If you have your own boat and are interested in joining the parade all you have to do is register your boat. After completing your registration, you will have to pick up your number at the Skippers meeting on December 7, 2016 at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort (Bayview Room) at 6:00PM. Numbers can also be retrieved at the Chamber offices in Newport Beach after December 1. Registering your boat will not only make you an official part of the parade, but will also automatically qualify you for the chance to win several great awards! So ready your boats and take part in this incredible event!
Ring of Lights
Bay front homes and businesses can also register for a separate competition, the “Ring of Lights.” This coincides with the 2016 Newport Beach Boat Parade where homes and businesses are marvelously decorated to create one gigantic Christmas fantasy land! Completed registration forms must be returned to the Chamber before noon of December 9, 2016. Judging will be on the 12th, so better bring out those lights and start hanging them up!
